Maldivian flight bound to HDh Hanimadhoo returned to Male’ Ibrahim Nasir International Airport after takeoff at 1330 hrs today (6 January 2012). The pilots made an emergency landing at 1420 hrs.
According to reports in Haveeru the aircraft experienced problems with its landing gear. Pilot recognized a mechanical failure in the aircraft’s landing gear after took off from the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport.
Dornier 228 aircraft at the time of incidence is believed to be carrying 12 passengers. This aircraft has passenger capacity of 16 people.
All passengers escape any harm during the emergency landing. Island Aviation the operator of Maldivian is believed to be arranging another aircraft to carry the passengers to their destination.
This month Maldivian operator Island Aviation reduced its ticket prices by MVR50 for a return ticket on its domestic sector flights.
