A French holidaymaker on vacation in Club Med Kanifinolhu, Maldives who went missing last on 7 January 2012 evening has been found dead this morning.
Club Med Kanifinolhu , General Affairs Manager Abdul Samad said that the 49-year-old French man identified as Alan Marshal was found dead near Paradise Island Resort today, according to Haveeru.
“The information provided by the family and the Coastguard are consistent. According to the family, the victim was wearing purple swimming trunks which matches with the dead body found near Paradise,” he said.
The French tourist, arrived to the Maldives last Thursday along with his wife and daughter, went missing while swimming with his daughter off north of Club Med Kanifinolhu.
“His daughter-in-law said she last contacted Marshal around 4.30pm yesterday. Marshal’s daughter-in-law was ashore when his wife asked her where he was. That’s when they reported him missing,” according to Samad reported Haveeru.
Police were informed within one hour of Marshall’s disappearance. According to Samad, the search continued through the night until Marshall was found in the sea this morning within 30 meters of Paradise Island Resort Maldives.
No details have yet been released as to the cause of death. However, police officials today said there was no cause for suspicion of foul play.
